My previous batch of these took about 5 months to germinate, this batch has has started in less than a month.
Maybe just good luck? Thought I'd pass on what I did if anyone else wants to try.
Some more specie info here --> http://www.pacsoa.org.au/palms/Licuala/grandis.html
Seeds... Received 3-12-07
First germination 3- 29-07
Soaked these for 5 days in distilled water, From there they went into a sealed container with Perlite for a germination medium.
A Note about Perlite: I've been using this more lately with good results, It is of help to soak overnight before using ( This will leach out any salts, fertilizers, etc that may be mixed in with it )
Then into my pieced together incubator 🙂 This gets plugged in when the sun comes up and un-plugged at night. Temps range from 100F/ 37C to 68F/ 20C

Well, I thought so...........
No one at my house seems to appreciate the nice Pygmy Date center piece I made for the table either 😆

sounds just like what I put up with at my house. I germinate a seed and I have a party i.e. high fives all around, jumping up and down, etc. However, the people in my house (my family) could care less. They complain about brown fornds, small bugs flying around (soil gnats) and high humididty levels. They also complain that every window in the house is surrounded by palm trees and palm twigs. They are a tough bunch to please, but they too like warmer weather and will help care for my palm jungle when the temps get warmer and the palm trees move outside for good.

I hear you on that...........
( Just a note about stuff for the pond, over this Winter I've found Chamaedorea cataractarum showed the best growth 4" under the surface with 60F + temp )

Here are a couple that have been growing inside under artificial light all winter, ( they should start looking better once they are in the GH)

Amazing as always Steve.
The L.grandis is my absolute favorite palm, and my little guy is doing fine crammed together with other palms for the high humidity it demands.
Good your second batch of seed was so fresh.

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
Also one of my favourite palms.
Greay looking fronds on this species.
