I recieved soem chamedorea radicalis seeds. Im pretty sure they still have the fruit on them. The seeds are bright orange, and have a soft layer. Theyve been soaking fer 48 hours now. Whats the best way to clean the seeds?

I don't know, but I'm sure someone else here can help us. I've only ever started Sabal seeds.
Cham. radicalis is a great palm. You'll want to bring it in for winters, but it doesn't mind that and will even grow for you that way. I bought two females this year thinking I had a male, but now I'm not sure. If I do get good seed I'll be happy to share it.

Radicalis apperantly sets seed really early for palm, under half mature hight. I have the arborescent type. The same deal goes for you dude

The two females I bought were in 5 gallon pots, with great roots. From JungleMusic. They have not been slow at all--they are growing fast. So, if you like these, see if you can buy some large ones.

canadianplant, I don't know how to clean the seeds you refer to but will make a comment re:

Once you realize $$$$$ that are involved in a live plant shipment from, say, the USA, you'll look in Canada.
I spent a small fortune on phytosanitary certificates, shipping, brokerage fees, taxes, etc. etc. on two occasions:
a coconut palm "seed" from Hawaii during a vacation, and most recently, six yucca rostrata juveniles from Plant Delights Nursery in the Carolinas.
Can't remember exactly (thank goodness!!!), but each yucca rostrata eventually cost me $50 or $60 EACH, despite the nursery's $11 or $16 price for each.

That nursery has fabulous stuff and very good prices, but it's not worth all the paperwork and phyto cert.

I cant find anythign in canada so worth wild so far. Unless i pay BIG shipping costs. Thats why i get seed. But for some things seed is a pain for me..... I managed to get one banana to sprout LOL. Out of 16 seeds so far..

You know of any canadian dealers that ship accross the country?

That's our biggest complaint...other than the usual Trachies and a few other "tropicals", no-one seems to have gotten into the real exotics.
John (Okanagandesertpalms) has promised some exciting stuff for next year.
he has tons of fabulous palms (huge too...some are 200 pounds), but unless you own a shipping company, that'd cost a bundle to ship across Canada too.

I'll let you know if I hear anything, but with Toronto's population, you're likely to find stuff in your own area, vs here in BC.

Lori of Jurassic Plants Nursery on Vancouver Island has some nice stuff, chiefly cycads.

In in the NW, the middle of nowhere. LOL. There isnt much around here as far as good nursries. Most places ive seed didnt even have canna this year. I found a few things to push the zone barrier, but nothing as far as palms go, or banana, no succulents, barley any alocasia, or colocasia....... bah... LOL

Make me want to start to grow some and help us poor canadians out LOL
