About all I know on this one is that it is a understory plant.

Thanks for the links! So many Dypsis, and so little space to grow them all 😆
The Fairchild list has 138 species, with plenty more still being sorted out.

From what I've heard of the rampant deforestation of Madagascar by a population hungry to earn farming dollars, it's wonderful that a lot of the palms people are propagating will keep those species going.

138 species ? amazing that they can pinpoint that many different varieties of one species.

Using the Kew checklist, there are 164 species listed in the genus. 😯

It's 19C 66F in Madagascar, so yours may be waiting for some warmth.
My three triangles indoors are pushing fronds now, always get the seasons bass-ackwards.
Obviously seasonality is locked in their DNA, irrespective of where they're situated.
Nice looking seedlings.
