Tim, none of these Citrus are fully hardy in our zone, or even zone 7a for that matter. They can be grown with protection though, along with a couple of other varieties that I haven't taken pics of. With that being said, the C. taiwanica and Changshou Kumquats survived -6 C potted and unprotected this year. There are other (essentially) fully hardy varieties for us, but they are not available in seed form. I'll be ordering some in the spring though! 😆

Nice update, Cameron, especially the Nannorrhops.
The Nannorrhops you started last winter must be bursting out of their seedling pots if the one pictured is this winter's batch. 😆

And those Phoenix come up like gangbusters!
The roots are soooooo long in just one growing season...here's my "delicate" attempt to separate them:

Barb, this Nannorrhops is actually from last winter. It's potted in a gigantic 2 kg vitamin container 😆

I'm not looking forward to separating the Phoenix roots either!

Ah, that Nannorrhops is from last winter...let me know if the vitamin container helps 😆

And Phoenix roots are VERY VERY fleshy, the slightest mishandling (or heavy lump of soil) and it just snaps off.
But Phoenix aren't affected by rough root treatment.
Not like brahea 😳

Cameron., nice seedlings!

Glad to see some of those musa seeds sprouted. They needs as much sun as you can possibly give them, right in a south window. Helens hybrid is apparently edible, and hardy to zone 7 (again, apparently), which if true would make it the hardiest edible banana. For that statement to be true, you would have to get it to fruit in zone 7 i guess 😛

Thanks, Jesse! I have been researching Helen's Hybrid lately too, and I was really surprised by how hardy they're claimed to be! I had three seedlings sprout, but they were exposed to -6 C, and this is the only survivor 🙄

Really fresh seeds, obviously.
These were from seedrack.com

Boy oh boy, those 14 inch tall Tree Pots sure take a lot of soil 😯
Already into my second bale of potting mix.

I received it, but it was 10 days or so after the seedrack order.

Great work, Barb! You'll find that the B. recurvata will grow fairly quickly.
