When did the typical recommendation of 3-1-3 change to 4-1-6?

"palm enthusiasts may wish to purchase palm special, 8-2-12" Article: http://www.fairchildgarden.org/livingcollections/gardeningandhorticulture/fertilization/ publication not dated.

...and I bought so much palm special fert...12-4-12+TE 😥

Fairchild's recommendation is for growing in their type soil, which is sand. 3-1-3 ratio fertilizer is fine for potted palms and for growing in most clay soils.

Whew! thanks Stevea07

I did know that Florida is mostly sand, which is a problem with leaching of Potassium thought to be one reason for LY.

...will put away the box of 0-0-44. :salute:
