yes coffee and coffee grounds are low in pH...............I design wastewater treatment systems and coffee shops generally have the worst wastewater since the wastewater is so low in pH it kills off the 'good' bacteria in the treatment system. We install limestone filters on the drain pipes leading to the septic tanks to raise the pH so the beneficial bacteria can survive.
