Bought a dioon edule at Jurassic Plants.
Here's my new baby.
The bluish leaves are gorgeous!
One quick question: Is it planted too deep?
Where the two leaves attach to the roots...should a bit be above ground?

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
I do leave the top of the caudex out of the soil. Mostly to keep the caudex from getting to wet and possibly rotting. But thats just me. Maybe the 'rotting" thing really wouldn't happen.
But that sure is a beauty.
That's a nice one Barb! Dioon's have some real nice coloring.
As Wes said, try to keep the top of the Caudex above the soil, You will notice it will start to pull itself up over time too 🙂

I'll remove a bit of soil around the base of leaves to expose a bit of the caudex.
I recall lots of mention here about a rotting caudex, so I'll water carefully after the first initial soaking to get it settled.
Thanks. It is a beauty!

Very nice Barb.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
The pot was too large, so I VERY CAREFULLY repotted it, adding more sand for drainage, and I exposed the caudex a bit.
As Lori suggested I marked North on the pot.
Thks everybody!
After all that "love", ha ha, it's settled in nicely I hope.

Barb - Yours looks fine under your care, but here's a couple photos just for reference.
This one from seed has not been disturbed and should show the natural caudex height.
Then again, sometimes they do what they want, This "Palma Sola" variant keeps pulling itself up...lol

Steve thanks ever so much for those tips.
I shot the pic from the top...there's a bit more showing than is evident.
I will gently remove a bit more with a spoon just to make it look a little more similar to your two.
I'm grateful...thanks.
