One of my Lepidozamia peroffskyana seedlings, still waiting for it's first leaves.
Seems to start a frond, then abort, has happened about 2-3 times now.

Decided to take a further look,

Looks like the caudex split and multiple growing points are emerging?
Or, is this just a normal growth pattern for these? (only have a few, so I can't make comparison's)

It's starting another one, will post updates 😀

Steve

hey Steve, not sure whats going on there, but that picture is creepy looking. Looks like there is a finger sticking out of the dirt and you can see just the finger nail. Are you using chopped up fingers as fertilizer?

everything appears to be doing well so far this year. Finally starting to get some decent size of some of my palms. Not sure if thats good because they get more difficult to store inside each year they get larger.

How about you, how is the palm ranch in central Kansas?

Things are doing well, lost too many plants this winter but the survivors are making up for it!

Planted about 300 S.minors around the property so far, have about a hundred more to go 😀

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought there was something creepy about that. 😯

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Kent, That's about two years worth of S.minor I've been germinating, most are still at the 1-2 leaf stage.
Some around the house, the majority are planted throughout the woods at the back of the property.
The " Louisiana" & "McCurtain" you sent are planted next to the house, doing well, and will get a cover this winter!

How is your Foxtail doing? Post some photos when you get a chance.

I'll take some photos this week and post a few pics. The foxtail is getting big.

I was talking to a knowledgeable Cycad grower who explained what happened here...

Apparently the apex had started to rot, then recovered enough to push new growth out from underneath the bad part.
(These had germinated last summer and then spent the winter in the GH)

Goes to show how resilient these can be 8)

Doing well now,

Steve
