Mr. Chumley. This is the large Palatka Giant you sent me. About two weeks ago I noticed the white in the cone and thought I was getting a new flush. However, tonight I looked and It actually looks like a cone coming out maybe. What is your guess? If you need a better pic, I can try.

Wes, wait a few days. If it's not a cone, it'll be leaves. .....Bob

I live on 12 acres in Central Florida about half way between Tampa and Walt Disney World.I have seed colonies of over 60 varieties of cycads. I have over one half acre of variegated cycads and I make many hybrids as well.

Bob, it is from what I can tell, both. I now have an obvious leaf coming out, but the other thing looks like a cone. What can I do if it is a cone? Can I ship it to you and have you work with it and send me some sproated seeds later? Or what should I do with it?

Nothing Wes, I have colonies of them here. It'll probably be a male cone........just watch it grow and it will produce pollen inside (like talcum powder) when it is mature (or ripe). And then you could cut it off and put in a plastic bag and freeze it until somebody has a female cone that needs to be polinated. Bob

GREAT!!! Hope you won't get tired of me asking questions about it later as I would like to try to get some. You wouldn't be willing to give me a female cone would you????

1 week later and you can see a new leaf beside it. Also, you might not be able to see, but the other caudex (sp?) is prepping for a flush as well....

What you have there Wes is , Two male pollen cones and one leaf so far. Probably more leaves are coming. Sinse It's pushing the cones, it won'thave too much extra strength for leaves at the same time, but it will a little later. Robert Chumley
