I was thinking about this and let me know if it's a good idea.With the super responses to KNNN's "A Nice Start to the Season" thread, I thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread since we are not in the "start" of the season anymore, to start showing new flushes that are starting with the warmth of late Spring and early Summer. I thought we could post our pics of new flushes that are starting now, then later we can "edit" that post with updated pics.I'll start us off....This is a Cardboard that Steve gave me recently. It started the leaf you see now about a month ago and you can barely see it, but there is actually ANOTHER one starting already. Thanks Steve!This is a Wilailik that I got from "Living Fossil". When I got it, it had a broken root. Thanks to Robert Chumley for training me up on how to fix cycads with broken roots! I thought this one was dead as I have had it for a long time and nothing was happening. Low and behold I checked it today and WOW. This is a Petrae Cycad. I had never had one of these and always wanted one VERY VERY bad. "Living Fossil" threw it in as a bonus to my order. It too had a broken root. Thanks Mr. Chumley. This is another Wilailik that "Living Fossil" sent me. It did not have a broken root thou :lol: This is a young Dioon Edule that KNNN gave me about two years ago. This is the second flush it has put out (this is not a "flush" yet but it is going to start soon. This looks to be a multiple leaf flush as it is really swelling on the side.This is my 2 1/2' tall Taitungensis that Robert Chumley sent me. This is the one that had a BEAUTIFUL 5 leaf flush about two months ago that some fat piece of crap that is as nimble as an elephant broke two leafs off. The photo is too fuzzy to tell, but it is at least an 8 leaf flush (at least it is until yours truely SCREWS IT UP AGAIN) and should look WONDERFUL by July.

The mold disappeared after the camomile tea spray...thank you.
Don't know what's happening below the soil !?! 😕
I'll have to wait it out, I suppose.

I thought those of you who only have small plants might like to see a couple new flushes on larger, mature plants:

Male Dioon spinulosumwith 3.5-foot trunk and two suckers (you can see new flushes emerging on the main stem and the largest sucker)

Closeup of D. spinulosum new flush on main stem (note the height of the leaves compared to the roof eave)

Large, female, broad-leaflet form Encephalartos ferox with about a 10-foot spread

Closeup of new flush on E. feroxjust beginning to emerge (will post followup photos as they continue to emerge)

Wish I knew what it was like to be able to grow Palms and Cycads outside year round 😀

These Dioon edule have held up well in the storms,

As I said before, I think Spinulosum are my favorite Dioon. I bet those would do GREAT out front of the greenhouse at your house, but then after they flush put them back on the shaded West side, by the garage so they won't get burnt. YOU WILL ABSOLUTLY LOVE Spinulosums buddy.

Wow, Wes, two flushes in two months.

Steve, nice sized caudex on your new ones.

Dioon spinulosum are inching their way to the top of my favs, a close second is edule, but spinulosum will pass them in size from the outset. My dioon's new growth looks puny beside the spinulosum's flush.
