Good things do come in the mail! 8)

From Mr. Chumley via http://ChumleyCycads.com

After removing all the packing material, got to the good stuff 😀
(everything was well packed and arrived in great shape)

Here is a Dioon spinulosum just starting to form a trunk,

A cluster of Dioon edule var. angustifolia, (four growing points, there is a small one starting behind the others)

And a nice Encephalartos gratus,

With our warm weather, it will be no time at all before these are sending up new fronds.

Thanks again Robert for sending such nice plants!

Steve

Thanks! We are forecast to be in the 90's for the rest of the month, that should get them moving along 😀

My experiences with Robert's Spinulosums are that they flush like mad!!! They do take a lot of water, but man do they grow fast!!!
If this is your first Spinulosum, you will find a new new favorite.

Steve,
I'm convinced those three will be among your favorites.

It'll probably be a "growth race" between E.gratus and D.spinulosum.
My money's on the D.spinulosum.

Your hot weather sure made them move along.

Hi Barb,

They're already in my "Favorites" list, as is most everything 😀

I think you are right about the D.spinulosum, once fully rooted in, it should easily outpace the others.

Thanks for the comments!

This is my first D.spinulosum, (I had some started last year, until a storm took down the shelves and tore them up.)

We had a bad year,(weatherwise and otherwise), Mr.Chumley went out of his way to send me some nice Cycads, I'll always appreciate that 8)
And, Thanks to everyone else I've traded with! I was ready to walk away from this "hobby" a few times, it was always then that a new package showed up 😀
