This seed was given to me from Mr. Chumley. IT is a true Taitungensis seed. This is the first and only cycad species seed I have ever gotten to put out a good seedling.
Now, judging from the pic, do I need to raise it up any or just leave it alone?

Seeing it is Taitungensis, put it in a larger container . It will appreciate the extra space, unlike Revoluta which likes to be root bound and gradually given larger containers as it grows. Taitungensis is the fastest growing cycad and appreciates the space to do so. Deny it the extra space and it will slow down or virtually stop. Robert Chumley
I live on 12 acres in Central Florida about half way between Tampa and Walt Disney World.I have seed colonies of over 60 varieties of cycads. I have over one half acre of variegated cycads and I make many hybrids as well.

Congratulations on getting one to germinate. If you keep this up we will have to call you Steve Jr. 😆

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

Robert, does this also go for your Tait / Guiz Hybrids????
Reason I ask is that they (i have 2) are constantly putting out new leafs, and I do mean constantly. As soon as one leaf is done, a new one develops.
Alchris, I highly doubt I am anything CLOSE to steve 😆 Dude is a "nature boy wonder"!

Wes, Congrats! If you get a chance post a description of how you did it.
I know some of methods I use may not work for others, etc, etc, but the more info we get posted the better off everyone is 8)

I just did your ole reliable 100% Perlite.
the only differance this time was that I used a VERY air tight "tupperwear" container, SHHHHH don't tell the wife!!!!, and had them in the greenhouse over the summer.

Are you guys kidding? Cycas Taitungensis (and my Tai. Hybrids)......you could hardly prevent them from germinating, like they are coming up between the cracks in the sidewalk!Only about 99% of them germinate. But, I'm glad you guys are excited. Probably doesn't take too much to spend on entertainment for the family there, Huh? I'm just kidding. Robert Chumley
