Just got a shipment from Robert. With the baby coming, I wanted one last trade for the year before my days are consumed with bottles and diapers.
He was kind enough to send me 2 Panzhi's, 1 Zamia Floridana (Wide Leaf) & 1 Fischeri. The Floridana is a nice surprise in that he sent me a thin leaf variety and now I can compare the two. The Fischeri has 3 cones (female I think) and is a cool looking tree.
Floridana Regular leaf Variety (sent from an earlier order)
Regular leaf Variety Measurements
Wide Leaf Variety Measurements
Great looking Cycads! 8)

If I were you Wes , I would plant the Floridana very deep (about 2-3 inches of soil over the bud of the plant) This will give it support for the leaves. And posibly you may not lose the leaves (as is the usual case when you bare-root a zamia Floridana) After all, it is a sub-terrainian plant naturally in the wild. Pack the soil tightly against the stems. Give that a try , if you concur, Wes. Robert
I live on 12 acres in Central Florida about half way between Tampa and Walt Disney World.I have seed colonies of over 60 varieties of cycads. I have over one half acre of variegated cycads and I make many hybrids as well.

I will now do that. I didn't at the beginning because the moisture of the plastic bag made it pretty moist in the center, so I wanted to get the roots potted but leave the caudex to air out. Now that that is done, I will put more dirt around it. Thanks again buddy.
