Hey guys,
Although this is not my plant, it looks great, doesn't it?!

You can buy seed of this hybrid from Robert Chumley for $3 each.
Up to 1000 seeds available.
$8.50 shipping in USA only, via USPS.
Great buy...

Here is the email from the man who owns the above plant from Mr. Chumley:

This morning (April 1, 2008) I planted your Cycas Guizhouensis x
Taitungensis cross in the ground. It has done very well in a pot in
fairly deep shade since 2005, in spite of terrible temperature
extremes here in Glendale. Not a trace of hot or cold damage to the
leaves!

This is dappled morning sunlight and it will have afternoon shade.

Thanks for looking.

I can tell you this, the person who planted that tree, planted it WAY too close to the house. The spread on that when it gets bigger will be at least 5' at the very least. And with the growth rate of a Tait, that could be as soon as 2-3 years. I think these have the growth rate of a Taitungensis and the hardiness of a Guiz.

Taylor, that is a beauty.
I don't know where Glendale is...what were the minimum temps?

Maybe the proximity to the house is necessary to get protection from the roof overhang?
Just a thought.
