Do you have a Merolae Dioon? I have two and they are BY FAR the sharpest and most painful leaves I have on ANYTHING!!
They make the spines on the "Madagascar Palm" seem like pillows.
How is your "waliak" doing?? Mine is doing good and I THINK (keping digits crossed) that is about to put out a new leaf.
But yea, see about getting a Merolae.

Barb - Thanks for adding the photos!

Wes - I don't have any of the Merolae form, Do have "Palma Sola" & " No. Mexico" Probably wouldn't want to trip and fall on any of them 🙂
Got a couple more Cycas "Wilailak" in with trimmed fronds for shipping, The roots on these are long! had about 6' on one.
( I guess that stands to reason taking their habitat into account, a couple sources has this listed as C.petraea now -not sure if that is validated yet)

If you ever want to sell one of your "Wilailak" , just let me know. I'll pay you whatever you want. I really like them.
But yea, get a "Merolae" as they are a cool looking Dioon. They have a very cool caudex that looks like it has moss growing on it and the first 6" of each leaf. Mine are from Chumley. All my stuff from him is doing well except the "Ciircanalis" sp?.

Well...You could always buy some from here 😆

http://shop.vendio.com/coontie57/store.html

I like to grow most of mine from seed but this actually worked out cheaper.

I think I might order another $100 worth of stuff from Robert actually. Not sure a Willy will be in my purchase, but I think his caudex size for the $$ is the absolute best.

Hey good prices on that link Steve.
They're in Florida, probably won't/can't ship to Canada.
Pity.
Coz' I was thinking of the 2 for 1 cardboard palms...(drool) 😕

Do you have anyone in the states that you visit? Can always have some shipped there and them drive them back across.
Will probably have some seed coming in, let me know if you want some !

Unfortunately, don't KNOW anyone below the border (other than you folks, ha ha)

Steve, thanks for the offer but I'm way too impatient for seed...except maybe the key limes 🙂
Prices were sure good on that site, and with the Cdn dollar up...there wouldn't be much pain in buying American.

But if it took 7 days for mail from Toronto (for the Musa), hell, the plant would have a birthday coming from Florida!
Cheers
Barb

Thanks Steve...
Closeups invariably show how complex and intricate plant-parts really are --
the spines, the little hairs...what a marvel of nature!
