Heidi,
are all the other fronds still in good shape? I guess it depends on how yellow the spear is to. Can you post a picture if you think there is something really wrong. If not I'd wait a couple of weeks to see if your fertilizer helps.

Bill -- thanks for the reply, the other fronds and their petioles are green and they're fine except for what looks to me like some minor frost damage. Now that I think about it, the spear growth might also be a bit slower than my other Trachy. You'll see everything in my web album below. Thanks to you too Jim for also responding. I've added a couple of pics of my other Trachy as it has some damaged leaves too, but all stems look fine and green and still pushing out a lot of spears). I think my main concern is the first Trachy and the yellow petiole.

Heidi,
I would say your palm is 100% healthy. The yellow frond was most likely caused by lack of warmth and light over the winter months. The new one coming out next to it looks very happy. Great job overwintering your palm! I'd say with your resent treatment all you will see is super green growth.

your Trachy looks MUCH better than mine! I am seeing the same issues, but more so. I may add photos here over the weekend.
As with you, I'm eager for advice on how to help them recover. I am confident they will, but want to help them have a super Summer so they go into next winter as well off as possible.

Bill - thanks for the reassurance, it sounds promising so I'm relieved. I'm just probably a worrying mother hen 😆 Luckily we had a mild winter this year and I didn't need to cover it all season, except maybe one stretch of overnight freezing. Hope this year will be an easy one again! Oh and I didn't notice about the iphone so no worries 🙂
Funny we're all experiencing the glitch in email responses. wonder who can fix it? I'll just check back here more often until it is.
Erik, I'm sure with the weather warming up your Trachys will be greener as well. What I did was add epsom salts and potassium to kick start them. Have you fertilized yet? It does help with pics, as you will get more answers from the more experienced. Can't wait to see them!

Looks good!
It will probably green up in time,leaf looks fine.
The other kink in the spear is from cold damage where the spear stalled,
it has pulled out of it nicely and is now only a small battle scar from your
Trachys victory over the cold!
