Thanks Guys,

Hopefully my friends in high places will set the pace at my hearing. I think I have a much better chance going in then others.

Why would anyone bother you Erik with all your land? WTF? I live in the city, with all your land people really need to get a life.

I'm going to have a chat with the complainer tomorrow since it happens to be in my backyard. Since they just bought the house it might not be a good way to be welcomed into the neighborhood especially by me. ARRRRRRRR.

Bill

totally awesome Bill........that variegated banana is to die for. The row of tall Trachy's along your back property line is really cool..... Todays/tommorrows heat will really perk the tropicals up!

Sorry to hear good, interesting fellow plant people are having issues with dirtbags. So true hat people just have to complain and try to control others just to get a grip on their own sad, empty lives. Typical bullies! Send 'em down to Jersey, we'll make 'em disappear! LOL Fugheddaboutit!

Bill, Eric - Thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard ( that people complained). Its not like you have a 150 food nazi flag on top of your house. I guess you have that "community law", where the neighborhood has to look "perfect"? My buddy was telling me about it ( in NC), where hes really leery about planting on his side yard ( happens to be the sunniest place) because of the law which states that your yard cant look "untidy", which according to him, mean what ever your neighbors dont like.

Here, lots of trees are planted on the property line, and usualy u get asked once to do something, before the neighbor breaks out the chainsaw. THats what my neighbors did with a 30 foot white lilac, took the chainsaw, and cut the tree in half 😯 ( the law here is if its hanging on your property its "your tree". Other then that, ive only ever seen neighbors do something once..... Someone called on my net door neighbor, because he didnt cut his lawn for 3 years......

Butter em up with some free plants 😛 And if all else fails, bring in a rusty old trailor into the back, get a kiddie pool, sit in it in your boxers with a case of beer, and some conway twitty playing all afternoon, im sure the neighbors will see that a greenhouse and some palms isnt so bad..

Everything will be fine Bill, just aggravating im sure.

Bill- Your yard is simply awesome! What a valuable asset you are to this hobby. I guess I'm lucky I don't live within driving distance of you or else I'd be in for a lot of grief from the wife! I'd be bringing home more and more and she already thinks I have too many palms and other plants. I'd be one of your best customers...

What a shame, it's so typical that some d-bag just has to complain about everything. Sidpook said it well, some idiots just want to control others to feel better about their pathetic own self. The only potential issue I can think of is that maybe they could go after you for the greenhouse and give you a hard time about running a business out of a residential property (zoning). I'm sure your lawyers are on top of that though.

If it's just about all the palms and other plants planted on your property, screw em! It is all tidy, classy, simply beautiful. Nobody in their right mind could say it is an eyesore. You should talk to your other (sympathetic) neighbors, drum up more support, even talk to to the media. Get a camera crew out there and get some more positive exposure. I think you will find that you have the vast majority of the public's support. The majority should rule, and it usually does.

On a different note, you guys out east should be getting our latest string of weather soon. 90s and 100s with overnight lows not dropping below 70. All my plants are loving it! We hit 103f yesterday and the low was 78f! It's finally moderating back to the 70s with some much-needed rain for a couple days then back to the normal low/mid 80s. What a nice boost for everything getting a week+ of weather more like that of south Florida in the mid summer!

When I first seen that pic ( of the AE AE, very fast mind you), I thought it was the stuartgart canna... The colours on it are really amazing... I wonder if they are all that vivid?

Jesse- It is undeniably a beautiful banana. Unfortunately it almost always (except Bills in that picture) suffers leaf damage and looks ragged. Very similar to Stuttgart in that respect!

This small pic is similar to every one that I have see firsthand:

Damn... too much wind and sun probably.... Thats also what my musa looked like in calgary, with low humidity, and low water (went home for 2 weeks, it was watered once 😈 ) Thats for the correction too -- STUTTGART ( repeats in my head 1000 times)..

It seems people assume that what works for one type ( say musa basjoo), will work for another ( well say, thai black)....

What have you been doing to the AE AE exactly bill?

If talking doesn't work Bill, send me the coordinates for your neighbors house....
One F-15 strike should set things right, would you prefer Napalm or the more
traditional route?

I think there is a sale on Napalm,wait...yes your in luck.

Explosions are nice but sometimes seeing the offender burn can be very refreshing!

You may want to shield your more heat sensitive plants though-but who
knows, maybe you'll get a nice growth explosion from the high temps! 😈

Only sorry that it doesn't last longer-you know, the burning and all.

Just light that candle...and like Mike said-Fugheddaboutit!

Ohh!

:violent2: :boxing: :violent3: :dontknow:

Oh!
Someone turned my neighbor into gobblegoo

whatyagonnado :bootyshake:

Gott im Himmel! 😯

That yard looks incredible!. I am never going to post any pics of my spread. I cannot compete with that. No way, no how.

I have to have one of those variegated bananas. Holy Smokes!

Bill/Erik-- Curious as to what they are complaining about. Is it the vegetation itself or, at least in Bill's case, a question of maybe running a commercial enterprise?

Wow. Impressive yard Bill! I love it! I love those trachys you have planted out front. So lush and big. Once the bananas fill out they yard will look fabulous. That really sucks about people complaining -- is it the plants or that you are selling them? When I'm out in my yard I have people driving by and actually stop and compliment me on the yard. If they said something nasty or complained, they would be in for a world of hurt! Why do people have to bother with what other people do? I never get that. Control freaks and they need to get a life of their own!
