I have had some of the palms outside now for 7-8 years. The palms in front of my house are only 2 years in the ground. They were in my partyroom before that . I assure you these palms are all outside. I have been a landscape Designer ,professional landscaper + consultant for 25 years and doing tropical for last 7-8 years so I have a little edge over most people.

The last pic seems to show a portable planter, easily moved inside.
Igor, do you think they dig them up every winter? 😕 😕

Henry,

Great to see those pics!
My favorite...a carpenter! 😆

Good job of construction. I now regret my palm hut is OSB, the door is beginning to warp from mild days with it propped open.
Plus it was a brute to paint.

Does the foil inner liner give lots of reflective heat? to the point where you save electricity?)
(I know avalanche rescue teams carry foil blankets...but...)

I'm guessing the white mesh at the palm base is to deter mice from getting into the palm fibres?
or maybe neighbourhood cats... 😈

Looks like an overhead incandescent in there? How many watts total inside the hut?

Thanks!
Barb

Henry thanks for the reply. I can see that I will be building a mini palm sky scraper such as yours to over winter my palms in a few years. I think I`ll put in some windows near the crown for light. Maybe even a balcony 😆 . Great pics.

Hey Mike.. What an awesome deal man! I'll tell my dad for sure... Still not sure what do do this summer with regards to more palms. I know I dont have near as many as some on this board but I might be getting close to my personal maximum. The big 6.5 sucker I got from you seems to be happy in the heated palm hut! The ither 15gal I bought that I am heating with christmas lights looks awesome too! Hope I get to uncover them in 6 weeks?? We'll see how the weather goes. Regardless I'll be uncovering my S.Mags in three to three and a half weeks... Looks like our last real cold blast this week. Bring on Spring! Loved your Florida pics!! I'm heading to Key Largo in mid March.. Can't wait..

Hey Scotty I can get some big waggie's also but we have to move quickly. Has to be in March that we place our order latest for waggie and april for other stuff. If you want to come up again I will show you a faster way to wrap up your palms and maybe even sell you 1 of my enclosures. As a repeat customer I feel like I could definitely help you out with the enclosures. Did you see what Henry did just above there. When I sold him the palm I told him what he had to do and he exceeded my expectations. I made a video today with my palm outside I will try to attach it here if not type in Montreal palms and see my videos for feb.
