Im here up in CT and we have had a few frosts but nothing serious. When do you people start protecting your Trachy's. Our 10 day forecast has the lowest temp being 26 F .
I have two mature trees that i think can handle this? Thoughts??
Hi, im near Montreal and i just started to protect the palms, but for you, i think you can wait 1-2 more weeks. The Trachy can take 5-10 F with no problems. I left one 8 foots tall at -16c or near 3F without protection 2 years ago and it had nothing 😀 ...

No worries at 26F for larger established Trachys..
smaller ones are a different story...looks like maybe
15F here on Saturday(coldest of the season)with snow
possible.

I just started enclosing mine here in Michigan tonight, I am using plastic barrels this year with flood lamp/heat lamps for heat. I have them still open and night pulled shut and lows are expected to be around 30's, but they're talking up to 5 inches of snow this weekend, so I'm at least getting them covered and make sure my thermocubes kick on.
when they're less than six inces of clear trunk, I keep them dry and windsheltered once a constant 4 hours or more are forecasted at 30f or below.
