Hi all!!

Ok, here's the question... I planted a Mexican fan palm this spring. since then it has really taken off. I live in a 6a climate zone and want to know what you all would do in my situation. I really hate to dig it up since it has done so good this summer, but I am also a realist and know that without protection it will not survive. What would you do?

I planted a 3.5 foot tall trachy fortunei in April. I have the same question. I am thinking a clear tarp with rope light (be carful with these, trust me) around the trunk and a light buld. If anyone thinks I should be adding more let me know.

hey a/palms..

i would be careful with polytarp dude...

the ice (and then wind), did mine in 2 years ago around a nice rhoddy...

consider a plexi frame for your palm..especially if its exposed to the elements...

Sorry for not having a pic. I will get one this weekend. I planted the 2 gal. palm with the intent of just using it as an annual. Since April it has doubled in size and is looking really nice. Planted it next to a section of my deck that is 6 feet away from my foundation. I have it situated on the east side of my house which is protected from the winter winds. I think your idea of a plexi-house would work. How do you plan on building yours?
