Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
-Aaron-
Sabal minor, R.hystrix and Jubaea
Growing palms and other exotic plants here in the Southern Gulf Islands.
My favorites would be W. filifera, P. canariensis and S. minor. 😀

Jay
Palms that can actually survive 5 yrs+:
Jubaea X Syagrus
Washingtona robusta X filifera
Trachycarpus "Manipur" - that is, if it lives up to expectations.
But these are long-term longshots for my area.
I am almost certain none of these will grow where I live, but I will list them anyway...
Washingtonia filifera
Phoenix canariensis
OK, third one is a toughie... Either W. robusta or Syagrus romanzoffiana. I like both of those about equally, also maybe P. dactylifera, but none of the three as much as W. filifera or P. canariensis.
In reality, I would just be thrilled to successfully grow Trachycarpus here. The Nampa car dealership palms give me hope, esp. since Boise, about 300 feet higher than Nampa, does not get as cold during the inversions.
In case anyone finds themselves in the Boise-Nampa area and was wondering where they are, the car dealership with the palms is on 11th Ave in Nampa. Easiest access from Boise is Exit 39 (Garrity Blvd). Take a left (south) and follow Garrity Blvd all the way to 11th Ave and then left. Once on 11th Ave, the car dealership is on the right. There are two palms standing about 8 or 10 feet tall on the street, and four or five smaller ones elsewhere on the lot. Most of the rest of the vegetation on the lot are flowering pears and Alaskan cedars.
Who wouldn't want free pie and chips?
My favourite cold hardy palms would be W.Filifera,Jubaea Chilensis and Syagrus Romanzoffianum. Both my Butia Capitata and Phoenix Sylvestris could be later candidates but at the moment they both look like small P.Canariensis !!!!LOL
Cheers:Ian Mc 😆
Chamaerops Humilis
Trachycarpus Fortunei
Sabal Palmetto or minor
Wes North Vancouver Zone 8b/9a

But I have none, and can't find anybody that has one or seeds of any of the three 😳
I have used them quite often and have had no problems with them.

My wish list palms would be Bismarkia nobilis, W. filifera x robusta , Hawaiian fan palm. Now that I`ve woke up from that dream LOL 😆 What might grow here Sabal louisiana, T.takil, T.naga hills.
John 8) 8)
Okanagan Palms and Tropicals
6b-7a
If I could have any 3 palms in the word growing out in the yard, my picks would be:
Cyrtostachys renda (Red Sealing Wax Palm)
Licuala grandis
Pinanga sp Sawawak "Blue Seed".
None are, of course, remotely cold hardy and would never make it outdoors here in zone 8B. But since this is an "I wish..." thread, what the heck??
