Watering for Mexican Fan Palm

I water my 6 foot trunk mexican fan palm 5 gallons a day in sandy soil. The weather here has been sunny and about 70 its gnna start getting in the 80s and 90s. Is this too much water?

That is a lot of water. You risk root rot and diseases.
