Another video update ... we've been down to -5F a few times and had one day that only hit 3F in the afternoon. How do you think the magnolia is holding up?

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Hi Tim,

nice update. Your EB Mag looks pretty good for a low of -5F and high of +3F..........considering it's so small and not established. Keep us posted on it's progress. As long as it gets larger next summer, you should be OK for now. Mine saw -8F when young and I didn't notice anything unusual except for more brownish leaves come spring.......but once they flush they look great again. But mine didn't see a high of 3F. The coldest high temp I recall was a 12F a few years back.

The good news is that it wasn't long duration. The high the day before was 24.4 and the high the day after was 27.9, and the 3F day actually had a high of 8.4F, but 3F was the mid afternoon temperature. So it was a quick in and out cold. The last five days have been 37.8, 41.2, 31.1, 32.7, 38.4 and 40.7.

Might have been the best possible first winter for a magnolia here! Looks to get near 50 on Tuesday and then 30s/40s the rest of the week!

Yes this has been a crazy warm winter.......great for your Mag EB. I'm sure it will take off this coming season (A super cold blast will certainly come now).
