[#3789]

Probably cloer to the 12F(Cactus bed) or 15F air temp on the north side of the house judging by the real lack of damage to leaves..

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

About 4pm the day before

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

11ish

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

And around 1:30 pm

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Nainital

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Already looking better than it did here!

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Look how beautiful the color can back!

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Fortunei covered by snow, the way the good lord intended(wink)

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Cerifera

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Princeps I planted about 2 weeks ago, this was covered and kept above 40F

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

One off the D.Antarctica-this will probably stay uncovered from here on out.

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

The other T.ferns are leafless but alive-not bad
considering last falls blown forecast of 25F
turned out to be 19F,this defoliated all but the
D.A.(unfazed btw),about 50% defo on the Squarossa.

C.Medularis was killed along with another potted one, thankfully the C.Brownii survived.....
this is one of the most fun T.ferns to watch grow.

Cooperi

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

C.Brownii

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Next year I will try and keep more of the fronds as they seem to overwinter well in the protction.

Little Takil...what snow??

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Sequoia is in near perfect shape with no branch or tip dieback(happy)

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

And the Graptopetalum......

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href=" " target="_blank"><img src=" " border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

.................WHAT SNOW????

Oh, thank God!

And your sticker says 70F now... :hello1:

Even the little Takil stopped swearing at you.

Get out the lawnchair and enjoy it Jim.
Well deserved.

Hi Jim,

I'm glad that cold blast didn't kill your plants. Thanks for the update.

I use copper based fungicide,(some like to use hydrogenperoxide)and try to keep the cavities dry.

Today the Cerifera and small Waggie pulled,

Brutal.
After a whole winter of protection, that one event caused spearpull. 😡
Sheesh.
At least that doesn't freak YOU, as it would me. 😀

They are both still up and alert...looks like 2 spears out of each one.

If we get the 70s all next week and lows in the 40s & 50s as forecast,
they may begin to show signs of growth/recovery by the following week.....
which is forecast to be in the upper 60s!

May actually see some recovery right around the first day/days of spring.

Last years spring (March/April) was so cold it took until May!

Yeah, I remember your last winter/spring.
Thought you'd still be melting snow in June.

With warm temps next week, are you gonna start fertilizing?

I laid down a little salt and pepper coating of Milorganite,0-0-60 K and some Epsom salts.

I don't think the Milorganite is very high in N,maybe 5%,so it shouldn't make
everything go crazy right away but sometimes the K can!

Carl Pool palm food arrives tomorrow or Monday and if the forecast looks the same
I will use some of that too....also layed down some Milorganite and compost on the T.ferns.

They are also covered with mini-G-houses to break them loose 😀

Looking like a warm spring this time....
