thanks everyone.

Beny, I did have a string of mini lights around the trunk which were kept on most of the winter....except when we lost power for 35 hours......and that night dropped to -2.9F (-19.3C). 😕

Ok Tim...even at -19c, you ve got good result. The Trachy are pretty tough, mine survived a -16c without any problems.

Well done Tim I'm very impressed with the growth rate of your plant. 😀

it appears many of the upper fronds did get a little damage. The fronds aren't opening up fully.

Mine fold up like that when they're thirsty.
But with all your rain, doubt that's it.

Gorgeous nevertheless, Tim.

So there are tunnels?

Mousetraps (like we discussed in another post that seemed to work), baited with peanut butter.
Covered with a bucket with a rock on top so cats/dogs/kids don't get hurt.

I haven't killed one vole yet with mouse traps! What else works?

PS, I didn't see any obvious vole destruction near the T. nainintal.

Hawks, owls and a cat 😆

But I don't think that's vole damage.
Are the fronds opening up more each day, or still the same?

last time I looked at the nainital the leaves looked the same (slightly folded). Do you think they will open up more as time goes by?

Wait until you get some rain and 70s(next month the way things are going 😕 )and see how they respond....
my Trachys are not looking great either as it has not been very good palm weather lately-they are still sleeping.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
