Wow!! that is some hoar frost.

Merry Christmas to you, Josef.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps

Wow!! that is some hoar frost.

So that's what it's called ... it even has a name! Never seen anything like it before until now.
Very interesting pics Josef! Thanks.

Cheers, Barrie.

My Trachy has almost the same truck as joesf, only difference is that mine has just over 3 feet of trunk 5 foot total when including the leaves.
So not as tall as his but I'am sure when mine reaches his height it will look very close to the same, I live close to 2 hours south of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I had my Trachy shipped from seattle there palms out there have very thick trunks! Here is the website www.palmsnorthwest.com

I will defenetly take some pictures of it and will post them up next spring, a long with my 3 footer witch I had shipped from B.C. Canada.
I use palm tree fertilizer spikes from treehelp.com also use Mycorrhizal fungi and i add a lot of epsom salts.

I planted my 5 footer in full sun and give it lots of water my 3 footer is in a nice sized pot for quick growth.

😀

Loves his Trachy's!

WOW!awesome pictures!I think we can all agree that trachys have mixed like the domestic dog.Your palm really looks like a, dare I say TAKIL oh god,I said it,well of coarse it could never be takil 😉 however it certainly is not pure fortunei and thats a good thing (not that there is anything wrong with fort)as far as I'm concerned,or it could be wagxfort, whatever it is that is one beautiful palm, that we can all agree on!I am curious what kind of protection you used on this and what"zone"your in?

hardyjim...as the saying goes, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Use the Search function on this site for Josef's name for earlier pics (over the last year or so) on various topics.

He has trunking yuccas, agaves, cycads and palms that'll make your jaw drop.

I just put up my rain shield on my cactus garden, which will become the winter cover for the palms too.
