Hi Barb,

wow, you got the 'troops' out there working on your palms!! Your 'hut' looks more like a palm resort! Your palms looks like it is in good hands. I gotta get my lazy butt out side to protect. I think I made a mistake not protecting my smallish Washingtonia since we hit 21F last night......only time will tell. I had to run the pool pump all night last night since I haven't haul'd in the sand filter/pump yet. Way too busy lately.

Tim, 21F last night? ouch.
How long has your Washy been planted out?
My first year protecting a Washy too.

Thanks Erik!

Yup, Paul, same hut as last year.
We've got to put a concrete foundation in for a hut base because the 6x6 ties are rotting.

This hobby's demands never seem to end... 😛

Looks like the trachy will outgrow the hut next year maybe! When do you typically take down the hut?

Hoping for two years Tim. 😆

Thankfully we didn't hit -9C last night...just -3.

Next week is supposed to be mild. 😕

Tim...now it's your turn. 😛

Great work!! The trachy will probably even grow during the winter, with all of the warm temps it will be experiencing in there! 😆

Wow that looks like it is a lot of work . Your zone seems cold for B.C. Are you as cold as Montreal. If not you surely can make easier structures . Big job but GREAT job

Mike, when you make your boxes, how much are foam vs frame? or do you have some that are just all foam held together with straps? I'm trying to imagine the make up of your set ups.

Hey Barb-so far mostly all foam. my locations are not super windy and use cristmas lawn ornament screw-in anchors to secure boxes in place and sometimes glue the boxes to railway ties .
