Home depot had these Phoenix R's on clearance $5

I couldn't resist getting 6 to plant in back down by the pool. Since lows aren't supposed to be below 40 the next 10 days I plantedthem.

Come on Summer!!

Great deal!
My local nursery had them marked down to US$15 so I planted one by the pool last week. --Erik

Wow, MArk, they sure look good. (The Oakville Home Depot has mainly nice pansies and mulch at this point of time 😛 )

They look kinda stretched but still good. I have 2 of roebs and one of them has very short and compact leaves, wonder what is causing it?

My other Roeb's are short and compact too. These stretched ones seem to be what they get in. Boots cut up high on them to they're very up-right. I think its the way they grown so close together and compact. Plus these were the last of 2 skids of them so the are a bit straggly since the best ones were taken at $9.99 from $19.99. But for 5 bucks I couldn't resist. Hopefully the fill out over the summer.

Are you planting these as annuals, going to take them inside for the winter, or going to try to overwinter these in the ground? Seems to me that would be pretty rough in a 5a. Looks very nice though! I wish I had a pool:)

Jova,

No not Annuals. Can't watch palms die. 👿 I'll be digging them up potting bringing in for next year granted they do good.

Are you going to sink them in big pots so you can just pull them out in fall?

Jim,

Nope. Planted them into the ground.

Thanks Bill. I'm hoping so.

I wouldn't worry about planting them straight in the ground Mark, if the soils nice around the root balls in those beds which I'm sure it is they'll come out very easy with little to no shock in fall. I had a really nice one in a pot inside in winter and out in summer for two years that did really well until I over watered it
one winter. Trial and error right, don't over water it over the winter 😆

Geez Mark-
I paid that much for my seedlings-
they should be that big in 20 years or so.
Looking forward to seeing some more pics when you get it all set up. :thumbleft:
