Finally the tree I had the longest decided to put out inflorescence. What it's putting out looks nothing like the inflorescence that my other two trees put out last spring. Is this one a male and the others (which had more stuff on them) female?

That looks to me like a female. The males inflorescence is more yellowish from the pollen. You should see some seeds develope soon if it was close enough to the male.

This is what my other tree looked like last year. The trees that did this didn't put anything out this year. This may sound dumb, but I'm assuming they have to put something out in order for there to be pollination? The first tree pictured is the only one that put out inflorescence unfortunately.

Wheelman here is an earlier post of male and femake Trachycarpus inflorescence. http://www.palmsnorth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5804
Here is how the seeds are developing . www.flickr.com/photos/67364497@N07/18844663550/in/dateposted-public/. Your last posted picture is definitely a female. The one earlier posted is a male with the greyish yellow color loaded with pollen.
