That is one good looking palm.
Congratulations.

You don't have to be crazy to grow palms in Alberta..... But it helps
Great size palm! Did you grab that from Valleyview?

Thanks everyone,
I am very happy with it. It is from valleyview. Ryan was right, they do have some really nice palms and tropicals. My 8 year old daughter had a great time picking oranges, grapefruit and any other thing she could find off the live plants. Anyone who can make it there it's worth the trip.
This washy was 299.99. Of course there was one in the back that was 6-7 foot trunk and maybe 12-15 feet all together that was a grand but A) I drive a yukon not a transport and B) I have a wife, so as you can see my option was limited.
I plan on getting more however I am still going to hunt for a large T. Fortunei. I have 2 smaller washys coming from B.C and one T. Takil.
I am going to get a few more Musa basjoo's and I think my collection for this summer will be complete.
Does anyone know where to get some decently priced Yuccas? They are so expensive, (but isn't everything). 8) 8) 8)

Why don't you give the cordyline's a try?
Valleyfield sells em for $25..Nice "tropical looking" species.
I have several growing in large pots here in Z6..overwintered in my garage..now 7-8 feet tall..
They are an outside mid-March to December plant...easily overwintered..
Yucca glauca (spanish bayonet) is pretty reasonable at around $25-$30..mine has started to trunk...
Let me know if you want to see some pics...
Broadway apparently has a good selection..pricey however..

PALMETTOMAN,
Are you kidding?? Pics are ALWAYS welcome.
There were a lot of really nice tropicals there. I enjoyed it but it is so far for me. Almost 2 hours one way.
Anyways, the cordyline looks really nice. I think there are a few I would like to get. I know wal-mart and home depot near hear both have huge greenhouses and get stuff in so cheap. Last year they had pigmy date palms for $5.00 and good size Chinese windmills for 10 or 15. I just need to catch them at the right time. They also had yuccas and pineapples.
Arctic,
The best advice I could give is to plant that baby in my backyard. 😆
Actually, on another forum there is a guy in Hamilton that overwinters a Washy. Here's a link to some of his postings,

PhilMusa,
You mean you would let me plant it at your place? WOW thats too much of me to ask. I will just suffer with the $300.00 palm here beside my pool!!!! 😆 😆 😆
I need to find out who this fella in Hamilton is, I could use some tips for sure. Wonder where he got his? It's said they grow really fast, is that the case cause mine is already 6' at its top leaf!
Hey Arctic Palm, that is one super gorgeous looking palm (*drool*) 8)
Keep the pics coming.
And Palmettoman, where are your pics ???? Come on, post 'em.
