Nice yard!
I hope mine looks like that by U.S. Thanksgiving in six weeks....
Question: why are you going to trim crape myrtles? I like the colorful fall foliage, and the lower stems may be hardy through winter if you mulch well. --Erik

Great weather you have Scotty.
Everything seems to have doubled in size this summer.
Cute Bamboo comment "Another one coming up here...and here...and here"...your neighbours will be chainsawing it out of their yards in 5 years 😆 😆

The yucca's 4 inch trunk is fabulous!

Thanks for the new video! Happy Turkey day.

Scotty, those palms are lookin good. Hope the magnolias take off for you.

I also agree with Erik, I would try and save the crape without chopping it down. It may surprise you.

Thanks Barb.. Hope you had a good Walking Bird Day too.. Yeah, it's spreading a lot!!

I am cutting the myrtles back because they wont fit in the palm hut.. I'll have to cut them back a bit to fit..

Nah, just build a bigger hut...one that'll "fit" for 5 years. 😆 😆

Canadian- I've tried fig as a die-back. It died back alright! It never came back... I think the lack of snow was the complicating factor, so it is worth a try. Just don't expect a 10' tree at the end of summer or anything!

I'm trying Ficus carica and Punica against my west wall. I was planning to build an "outhouse" to protect them but supposedly they are hardy down here.

Those are hardy to zone 7. You can get then to grow back, by bending down the branches, and burying them in the soil ( like some rose bushes). I was going to try to to rotect it like a basjoo by wrapping the trunk. Im expecting the fig to be a decent sized shrub here, with die back in the fall most years here. "Brown turkey" is said to be hardy to -23C same with "chicago hardy".
