I have tried endlessly to correct this ###### ####### photo(S) no luck
These are pretty much pure Robusta-deep green and glossy with straight trunks

Notice the difference in the coloration of this Filifera-matte pale green leaves.

Seems obvious but wait! Check this one out...

Lots of variability,almost all of the ones I would maybe guess Filibusta still have boot jacks
The trunks are all fatter at the bottom then the row of Robusta in the first pic

Awesome palms, love the short fat washies. 😀
And that last palm really has a great shape to the crown. Almost the ideal small palm right there.

Jim, the big blue palm below the robustas is a Brahea armata, no hairs on the leaves. 🙂

But the Washies still confuse me.
My first thought when I saw pic 2 was Pritchardia 😆 😆
So those are ALL weeping forms?
And in pic 1, do the fronds look beat up from their "winter"?
My washies have such stiff fronds, I'd have to use clippers to get a leaf to bend halfway. 😕
The last photo is soooo beautiful...what a prize.

I agree, great shots, Jim.
Jim could probably answer this better, but they look very healthy. I think for the most part, filiferas have stiffer leaves. More or less. 😆

yea....they do seem more compact than Robusta,probably because Filifera is slower
and Robusta naturally stretches out with its faster growth.

Just return from a 10 days trip in Nevada,California and Arizona. It was beautifull especially the Death Valley and Joshua tree national park. I went to Indian palms canyon near Palm Spring, Awesome 😯 Lot of Washingtonia Filifera 😀 ...I saw the Imperial sand dunes in southern California near Yuma, Arizona...it was amazing 😯

Barb, i don t know if they were all Canadian. But for sure, they were a lot, especially in Arizona. In the desert on each side of the road, near Quartsite, its only that you see 😯 ...

There's the aerial tramway to do, but if you go at the Joshua tree national park ( 1 hour from Palmspring), go to the Key view point in the park. That s a belvedere at over 1500 m, i had an incredible view of the Coachella valley and Palm Spring ( that replace the view from the aerial tramway on the otherside of the valley ...You must see that park, very beautifull. 😀
And the Indian canyon just south of Palm Spring, 10 min from downtown. If you like hiking, that s a good place for that.
