My fault that protection was so "iffy" this winter, but they are slowly coming back.
Too bad it'll take until September.
😡

Minimizing humidity seems to be AS IMPORTANT as cold protection.
One is no good without the other.
Hard way to learn it, though.

Glad to see you didnt kill them. And now you know what not to do. Lets hope for a long hot summer so they will have time to grow.

Hi Barb,

your Washy looks great........it just needs a few more degrees of heat in the soil and she will start growing again......mine hasn't grown 1 inch yet......but should be starting any day now. 😀

Thanks Tim, yup, these Washies love heat heat heat.

With all the rain you've had, do you still water it a lot in summer?
I'm never sure how much water to give them.
And should water be applied to the ground (is overhead watering bad?)

we have a well draining soil so I can water the Washy everyday with no harm. I think they LOVE water when actively growing and will grow faster with more water. It's a nice tropical feeling day today with showers and a dew point of 57F. My Washy is loving it. 😀

Yes it makes sense.
Even in the deserts they grow in streambeds.

Wasn't sure though whether they appreciated overhead sprinkling.
Probably safer in my case to lay the hose on the ground.
They've had enough moisture in their crowns this winter. 😆 😆

Enjoy your tropics, Tim 😀
