Had two trachies from last winter never fully recover. So, this year I covered them completely to help best I could. Still provided no heat or light source. Once uncovered I realized that both have probably seen their end.

This sabal is probably a goner too. Gave it a light a little too late.

Here are a few better looking ones.

Hoping the big Trachy makes it Chad.

All in all, considering the last 2 winters for you folks, little damage.

Fingers crossed on the sick ones.

I bet your Sabal comes back unless it is mushy...

Why is the one Trachy leaning? -
If the fan blades on some of the leaves are open
it may still be alive.

The headless ones I would begin cutting down
and see if you see anything alive in there...if there
is,better to open it up now before rot gets it....
I would be relly interested in seeing whats left.

I usually angle my cuts to the south so the sun hits
the fresh cut square.

Barb and Jim,
The trachy with fronds is growing fine. We have been at 80 F the last few days and everything is coming alive. Some trachies are on their second frond.

The sabal spear is still tight, so I treat it and watch. I did cut both trachies with spear pull Sunday. The largest one was like curded milk on the inside and is no longer with us......

The other one doesnt look good. I will give it some time and see if anything happens.

Jim, as for the leaning. These palms are in a shaded area, I guess they are reaching for light.

Just an update, sabal pulled. When I checked it closer it was all mushy and smelly. My youngest needles appear to suffering since the protection came off. They looked flawless prior. Plus since I am still rearranging my garden a couple trachies got dug up and potted. Waiting for a new home.

Both needles are pushing new spears. Plus the pups that came off are doing well. My oldest needle looks good.

These 2 will be relocated. They dont look like much now but they are still alive.
