Uh, maybe. The Belize Botanic Garden is being smacked by TS Harvey right now. I'm guessing Igor will wait to see how it fares.
Hope BBG gets through that unscathed.
See you're finally getting to ONLY 97F for a projected high tomorrow.
Go find your sweater... 😆

W says she is cold. Any air temp below body temp feels chilly to her now. 😆
Excellent siting of those beauties!
Does that Gazebo have electric out to it? If not, can you run electric to it? (wxman can chime in with details.)
I'm thinking of a fan for summer, electric light for reading in fall, and "christmas" lights for the palms thanksgiving to easter.
Agree with Erik, excellent location for palms and gazebo, great property.
Trachies look healthy too.
Nice work.

Thanks, I just put them in 4/5 weeks ago, so they're still getting rooted. I haven't noted any stress from replanting so that's good.
There is electric out there, right now just a GFI. I'm still kicking around how I'll go about winter protection. So long as I don't kill them this year, I'm on the look out for some 4-5 foot trunk windmills to line along the boardwalk that I have in now. It's a work in process, there will eventually be beds on each side of the boardwalk with additional palms and cannas which seem to work well for me.
Before you decide on what type of winter protection you'll use, you need to have your area's average lowest temp (back about 5 to 10 years is good).
Maybe checking with some area residents will help get a historical idea of weather if you're new.
Need to also consider if you get blasts of cold wind from the north/northwest, which can be very damaging, not to mention destroy anything covered with plastic.
Minimum temps will basically help you decide what's needed.
Too bad you don't have your location on your avatar...Canada? USA? zone?
or have we asked that before?

If I remember correctly, he is a solid zone 5b in Michigan so he'll have to use the tricks of lucky1, mnpalms, wxman et alia.
Thus, I am very glad to hear he already ran the GFI out to the gazebo. 😀
I'm planning on some sort of wood frame, with styrofoam walls and some sort of plastic wrap. The trees are buffered on the west side but Im in a total wind tunnel. I'm about to order my thermocubes and c9 light strands as well. I researched this big time before ordering the palms, I'm well aware of what I'm getting into. I don't plan on moving for some time, but now I have to wonder if this type of back yard would be a deterrent or something attractive to buyers here in michigan.
that's a great place you have there weelman

Wheel,
I'm selling my place and so far the cold-hardy palms seem to be desirable to prospective buyers.

Thanks! I plan on being here a while. It's beautiful in the summer, and with the turf farm in my back yard it's great for snowmobiling in the winter!
The turf farm allows snowmobiling during winter? 😯
Hey Erik,
Glad the palms appeal to prospective buyers...they can brag they bought acreage with palm trees!
Go for it...and after they sign on the dotted line, tell 'em what they need to do to protect them 😐
They'll think you're originally from Canada 😆

I know the owner and actually as long it's frozen over well, the grass doesn't get hurt... and I run a track that's studded and from time to time it paddles down to bare ground. Some thatch gets tossed up, but once it thaws you can't even tell.
