Really nice garden, i like the desert garden. But here i can only have 2 species of opuntia that can stay on the ground a year round without protection.
Good job....
I can't grow any more than that without covering.....
I had a nice tree Opuntia for a couple years but it froze and fell. 😕

Wow Jim I love your garden as always, its starting to look like your garden is in California, instead of Iowa. I love those big agaves and palms, your garden is really exotic looking.
Every year I think, man, this stuff will be huge by fall..... with some of the palms
I will be needing a ladder next year-when it's time to cover.
They are getting big enough to notice from the road now-I think in
summer most people see the Bananas and Castors from the road
and miss the palms and cactus.

How is your Australian Tree Fern doing? any specific pics of that this time of the year? and you over winter it right??
I bought a small one at Mulhall's and have it in a pot. Grows pretty fast as long as I can keep it out of direct/hot sun.

My T.ferns were killed last fall by 18-22F temps-it was supposed to be 27F.
The Antarctica made it but was damaged, one of the Cooperi is still green
but I don't think it can come back-there is a pic in there of one of the 2 backups
I planted in spring to replace them...C.Brownii and D.Squarrosa are gone too.

Sabal Louisiana with Moss roses around it
OK thanks; that's an unusual combination, looks very nice.
they are one of those opportunistic plants though..... that take advantage of the wet season.
When I stop watering in the winter it drops all it's leaves
And here I thought they were sick when they dropped leaves. 😕

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
I think next time I post I should focus on groups of plants instead of all 😀

groups of plants instead of all
nice to get the entire view, and a real feel for your place, with all. 😀
