Sorry to be late.
Kris is right about the mobile nursery. I have asked them for Sabal minor and they act interested but have not come through for me.

There is a small nursery in town that sells Sabal minor, needle palms, etc (plus my trunked Yucca rostrata).

Another nursery formerly sold Sabal minor McCurtain from seed they collected but once they sold out they lo longer have them.

I have seen "blue pot" Sabal minor at box stores--but only down in Texas. Still, you could ask the nursery manager at your local "box store" (Home depot, Lowes) if they can order you some. Ditto a good local nursery. They have more resources than you do.

3-4 years before they are a good size.

Steve, wish we knew your trick for reducing it to 3-4 years (from 10).
Any tips?

Barb

Barb, a 10 year old Jubaea should be 5.5 feet tall. I was thinking of a good sized seedling, say 18-20 inches.

Oh, if only those were available...anywhere.
I'd snap one up too... 😯

Some folks in the UK complain they're so slow growing, probably because UK summers are coolish.

Keep me in mind too, please, Steve for an 18-20 incher. :hello1:
...I'll complete the declaration.
Ahem. cough cough.

Everybody MUST see the palms in Steve's link...are they ever fabulous!

The Jubaea is breathtaking, marvel at the trunk diameter 😯
The brahea...the nannorrhops...sabals....fabulous specimens in a great yard.
Great yucca in there too.

I can easily duplicate the 100F summer days, but have nada humidity when it's hot.

Hard to believe NC is that dry, with hurricanes and gulf stream, etc.
Thanks Steve for the link.
I pretended for a moment that was my place. 😉

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Met the Monrovia rep at the Home depot. He lives just around the corner from me here in Beamsville. They have some nice plants available, but no Jubaea.

Sabal Minor is a very tough type of palm does very well in Montreal even with not too much care. I got them- even up to 7 feet this year. But not allowed to ship that out of Canada. What size you looking for I could point you in the right direction. I got a friend in North Caroline who could Pick that up for you in Mobile Al

She has a lot of good sized, really neat palms. I hope they survive transplanting when she moves in the springtime. It'll be interesting seeing how they do, but I bet they do fine for the most part though.

Wow, beautiful Sabals.
It'd be a pleasure to unwrap that packaging...what a treat.

Move to Canada, Steve, so we can buy from you. 😉
