Ah, theyre apparently really easy to grow indoors. They would probably do better with a bit higher humidity.... Never grown them myself. They are from new zealand if that helps

Hard to get higher in humidity than temperate rainforest on a cape jutting out into the Pacific, so good there.

Supposedly the seeds for these were gathered at the south end of their range, making that about 44 oS latitude.

Barb, we'll see. The tag says good for Brookings, Oregon: the beach town right on the border with California, noted for tall CIDP.
But, I think this microclimate is good. Steep slope so cold air doesn't accumulate. South facing so gets what sun there is in December. Actually looks south at the ocean as out on a cape.
Wil get zero winter protection as I hope to be far to the south of here come winter. 😆

Org has a similar climate, if not as windy. I believe they are hardy down to -5C? Relatively hardy Pinnate palms to be honest. Here is the common form. Var from the south will have a bit more hardiness.

Wow, in that case it'll be an outstanding addition to the landscape.

Also nice to hear of a palm that likes indoors...so many palms have been a failure for me after winter indoors (albeit cold storage).
Humidity certainly wouldn't be a problem in Oregon.

Raining every day here in Manzanita, Oregon.
It is going in the ground in the morning. I'll take photos.

Planted it this morning. Will get zero care from now on, as I drive back to Oklahoma in the morning. Wish it luck. Will update next year.

I friend went by and took a photo yesterday of the shaving brush palm I bought at Cistus and planted at my parent's coastal property.
Seems to have been doing well with no care (water, fertilizer, etc.) since I left in June:

Had to settle for a small one from Phil at Jungle Music. He cautioned me about them needing humidity and possibly not a good candidate for a house palm, but have had mine now for a couple of months and seems to be doing ok, although I keep it in master bath tub with other humidity loving palms.

Very nice palm, hope it does well outside.

I have a few of my "special attention" palms on a shelf in there so I can keep a inch of water in the tub for humidity.

We do have a 2nd bath tub in the other bathroom, but I have 10 1 gallon milk jugs with well water in them I keep at room temp because I know you can't put cold well water on plant when I water them in the winter!
