Here are a few pics and a weblink or two from our local beach town, Wildwood NJ. The resort town is known for its DooWop architecture and "Palmus Plasticus Wildwoodii" Good times....Here are just a few of the pics Ive taken this season. I have to find some of the fluorescent orange and yellow and green ones.....
Cool plastic palm trees and architecture of wildwoods.

Erik- Maybe it's some of these: http://www.mynewwaterfronthome.com/portdoverpalms.aspx

Summer-time palms in Port Dover, Ontario. The town also has a neighborhood that plants Sabal palmetto seasonally.

Paul,
I hadn't thought of that, but I do the same thing in my backyard, so why not on a commercial scale?
Hmmm...I smell business opportunity....

I have never been to Wildwood, but its on my list. I am a big fan of Googie or what they call Doo Wop architecture and other Mid Century styles. But I think they should lose the fake palms. Trachys would do fine there.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Mike, thanks for the great pics!
Love the architecture, suits a beach perfectly (a la Miami ?)

...and I used to love blue palms 😯 😕

Interesting link about the pot planted big palms in s.Ontario.
A pic of their winter greenhouse would round out the business story.
Great idea.

Cool shots. Those first few palms remind me of Plastica wildwoodia?.......it's a rare hardy palm native to the SE New Jersey Coast......nice find!!!!

Yeah, the fake palms are odd, but it does add to the kitsch factor. Let me know if you ever get to wildwood, I'll buy ya a drink!
