Look great. Will be a lot of work this fall digging it all up! 😉

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Normal stress related panic that comes with thinking about
the task at hand-with so many plants to protect.
Thinking about leaving everything to nature is where I come
back to sanity from sometimes,a little circuit breaker that
clicks when a feeling of being overwhelmed kicks in 🙂
Luckily it all doesn't have to be done at once, all the palms are fine to at least
25F right off the bat,the first wave of cold knocks out the tropicals then,
the focus comes back on the palms.
I actually rather enjoy when all the tender stuff is wiped out-
there is some relief and more of a bond to my 4 season love-
The cold hardy plants! 😀

Interesting you would say that Jim.
Felt the same way myself lately, looking around at stuff suffering from not enough water and sunburn.
Three Cycads are goners (I know, never give up on a cycad)... 😕
Bugs on everything, sunburn on everything else.
Even the weeds are wilting.

We need it,you have to much.
I hope we don't have a dry winter and spring as well,
that could send the heat dome up further north than
it already was this simmer!
One season/thing at a time I suppose.

So true, that is how I feel every year. I have more this year to cover than ever before, and hate the thought. 😐

Agreed.
It's been such a strange year, cold spring, short summer but hot.
Can't stand the thought of winter yet, but protection plans have to be in place.
You're right Aaron...it's drudgery to get them through until the next spring.

At least they have flat screen t.v.'s these days so we can
all hang one in our enclosures and hang out with our palms!

Nice update Jim! That Trachy recovery is awesome! It grew more leaves than my T. nanital and my nanital had no damage!!

My other Nainital is a slower lighter colored one
like yours-it has only grown 3-4 leaves this year-
if that.

Yes, the thought of winter protection for the ones we/I leave out(my first season with cold hardy palms) and the monumental effort to bring the others in the garage for the winter. I may just have to arrange them nicely in the garage to make it feel like my winter paradise!
Still, I don't think of all that when I find too good to be true end of season "deals" on tropicals. My wife asks me "where are we going to put them all?" and I said it's like children that you don't plan on, you just made due.
I found a Fiddle Leaf Fig at a Wal Mart for $6 (1/2 off) it was about 4ft tall. You can almost stand there and watch it grow, it grows so fast with HUGE leaves. Can't pass up a deal like that.
