Anyone in coastal BC growing any of the Parajubaea?
I'd be interested in hearing how they do out there!
I have a Parajubaea torallyi var. torallyi which is just in a gallon pot, about to go pinnate on the next frond. I got it from a guy who tried one (5 gal. size) about 20 miles north of here. Dead the first year out.
I'd wager they'd be in trouble once temps dropped in the 20°F to 23°F range, especially when small. Older established ones should be OK to brief temps in the upper teens F.
I'm leaving mine in a container for some time to come.
Cheers, Barrie.
🙄 And for my climate will this palm walk up?
Cool! Thanks Barrie.
I bet it will be hardy if you let it settle in a protect it for the first few years!

How do you all think a Butia X Parajubaea would do?
Much better choice. Growing well in the Uk although I do not have one yet..have heard good reports and surviving our cold spell..keep it well watered in the summer mind..
