Haven't fertilized it yet, as weather's been cool.
But I think it's starting to look good.

Looks great!
Does it have a big root mass under there?

Oh it's beautiful Barb! Definitely looks happy! We've been cooler than average here too, but i've fertilized anyway. what have your temps been like? (I haven't even thought to ask my mom lol)

Scotty, you folks have had such hot weather, I can understand fertilizing.
But when it's as cool as we've had it, I wanted to hold off (don't know why tho') 😆
Thanks Heidi.
Temps have been about 5 to 10 below normal; and tons of rain (which is unusual for us).
A month ago we had stage 3 water restrictions.
Now we can't stop the rain, although it's not like Jim's rainfall of 2" a day. wow!
I'm thrilled the Trachy loves its spot.
Haven't a clue about the root mass, Erik.
I think I'd better leave it alone after all these years in a pot.

Looks like the trunks doubled in size.
It will be nice to see it put out some leaves in keeping
with it's new spot.

That is indeed a fine looking palm. Should do well there.
Looks like the trunks doubled in size
Really?
Holy cow, never even looked at the trunk, just # of spears it's pushing.
Gonna blast it with the new palm fertilizer next week, when warmth is forecast...finally.
Thanks everybodeeeeeee! 😀

Beautiful trachy Barb! Is that the one that lived in a pot for like 30 years? Nice robust, thick trunk.

Erik, I just found a pic from planting day last year that'll answer your June 3rd question about root mass.
The "rootball" was in the shape of its last container, a garbage can, and it had lots of healthy white roots.

This gives me a lot of encouragement, growing palms here in zone 5-6- (Denver, Colorado area).
I also recently planted a 15 gallon trachy the last couple of weeks. It shows no signs of transplant shock, and has started pushing up its spears. It was in a pot for about 3 years.
Wow!
I have to show that to W. She talks about having to someday move her "girls" with her tractor. This will help her visualize what that will look like.

Barb that palm is looking great. Looks very happy in it`s one year old new home. The two or three spears coming out at the same time lets you know it`s growing to the moon LOL 😆 . Be proud. You can fertilize in the spring without worrying about the temps. They will absorb the nutrients "cool" or hot this time of the year. I fertilized mine April 6th and I am now seeing much faster growth over the last month vs last year when I didn`t fertilize until mid May. See you soon.

Kirkco, glad you like it, but it does have a heated palm hut in winter.
And I have to hire a carpenter each year to install it and take it down, but it's worth it.
Erik, W will ask for a larger tractor, like I did. 😆 😆
I want a tractor with forks that can suspend a palm with tie-downs, rather than banging it around against the front end loader.
There oughta be "palm moving tractors", LOL.
Yes you've all convinced me that I should've fertilized sooner, especially since I have Palm Special Fert.
But cool temps scared me this spring especially since it's out for its first year.
I'll blast it this week for sure, hopefully not too late for putting out substantial growth.
April 6th, John, when the weather was so crappy? I should've listened (earlier).
John, Yup, come on over and get those nana pups...give me a couple days notice in case we're really busy.
It'll be nice to see you two again.
The beer fridge is well stocked (if you come soon)
😆 😆
