Any pics?
I don't think they are leaf hardy past 25F or so...possibly it is something else
or in a very good micro-climate! You guys must of had snow cover too, otherwise
i think it would have been more like 20ish(F)

Can post pics later today when I'm home.
3 are in the ground and next to the house(two of those I over wintered last year with only bags of mulch for protection) The 4th one, I've had for a few years and it's in a large pot. Last winter I just drug it inside the garage with other cold hardy palms and it did fine. This palm though was sitting out on a walk way to the house totally open and exposed. The potted Mexican Fan Palms all took leaf damage hits, and hopefully will rebound (they are in garage now)

Pics,
Ok, There has been a change in two of the 4 Chinese Fan Palms that were outside at 9 deg F cold for one night.
First pic is one that over wintered last year but with late spring snows was stunted in it's re growth and it and one other just had bags of mulch for protection.
Fronds have turned a lighter green color now, but newer shoots from the ground look good still.
2nd pic just shows how I'm going to cover it this year. Christmas lights and a large semi transparent storage tote. This palm gets a lot of sun.
Other two in the ground faces the West, but with garage in the way get limited sun...if at all. Small one was has been in the ground since last year and over wintered same as one above. Other larger CFP was just put in ground this spring and is almost total shade. Neither of these two suffered any damage at all from the cold.
Last pic in the pot, has now suffered some discoloration, but new spears looking just fine. This palm I've had for years and just over winters in the garage.

Looks like it got milder just in time, Scott.
Hope it's just superficial damage.
With a bit more age, those CFP against the wall will do even better with an early cold snap.

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
You might call that a green freeze,I think the leaves are freeze dried,
looks like the spear is going to pull in that last shot-having a the blades
close up and discolor like that is a tell tale sign..

All I can do is leave them alone in the garage for the winter. Soil is still moist enough, and I've learned the hard way it's best to let things dry out a bit over the Winter.
