Well, I just got back home form being away, my trachys are not doing well at all...both are drying right out, all fronds including the newest are drying right out and the one outside is browning. There is something wrong, they have been watered, the soil is damp to the touch, I dont know, but its not good. The fronds are literally folding up to the point they look like rolled cigars.
Any ideas?
Hey,
I assume they are in protection? If so, all the sun could have cooked them (especially if the soil was dry or frozen) . I was guilty of this last year. And I don't plan on making the same mistake again. You can save yourself some headaches now by letting them out of the protection (or reducing it), cutting off the dead tissue and being VERY aggressive with the fungicide. If there isn't a bad infection then the palm should send out a new (usually deformed) frond in a month or so. Otherwise, you may have to do some digging (i.e. chopping) to find some live tissue.
Sorry man.
Otherwise you can wait and see what happens, but this probably will mean the death of the palm (which may happen anyway).
Again, sorry for being grim here, I just dont want you to lose the palms completely.

A/Palm..
The sun can really cook the palm if you don't vent...If the palm is under any type of protection you need to watch the temps very carefully...I had to vent my palm houses when daytime highs hit -10C!
Sorry to hear about things...I would take it out of its protection now...cut back the fronds and stop the watering...
I have one in my garage greenhouse just like that now...all you can do is wait..
Keep us posted dude..

It must be very difficult to try these palms with success in such extreme conditions. I think I'd follow the advice given by the others, as their previous experiences are your best bet. I'm sorry I can't offer any real advice since we've never had the tough conditions your palms are facing. Be diligent but cautious with fungicide, some can do more harm than good if over used.
Cheers, Barrie.
All I can say is good luck

Oh man, sorry to hear that.
I agree with venting because of the heat build-up during sunny days in winter.
Any pics?
