I found a ladder on CL. I just need mounting hardware for it. I got the drain and we are getting ready to mix the concrete for each side of the pool deck and the stone will go on top. I picked up some sample stones, and they are sitting next to the ladder.

Thanks for the pics. I have been looking at these, but I always heard them called sun sails. I though about making some places to place metal posts that are removable so I can have them up or down if I want.

Love the idea, planning and construction. I just have a question or two: Will you empty the whole pool in the winter time in case it freezes? And, what do you plan to do if the liner ever rips or the metal rim ever degrades? Is it terribly hard to work in there????

This last winter I just left the pool running all winter. Most people around here just close the pool by draining below skimmer and empting all the lines.

As far as replaceing the liner goes. I think I should be able to get in there to change it just as you would an inground vinyl liner pool.

For the wall, it would take a little more work, but I don't think it would be too hard. I have took extra precautions to keep it as dry as possible to prevent it from aging too fast.

The palms have started to get growing again and they have greened up nicely.

We decided to order the concrete instead of mixing it. We now have it poured and it's ready for the stone floor to be installed.

I meant to add that I've always liked Erik's shade trick.

Can be quickly pulled back when a windstorm arrives whereas fibreglass covers would be gone to the next county.
