I want to get a palm from broadway and grow it in the ground.
I will not get other types because trachys and sabals are hardy to zones 6 and up.
Im not going to have anything die on me.
So is there any?
yuccaman,
Last time I was there, about a month ago, there were needles. Call and ask for Tony and he will fill you in. He is the tropical expert!
Well now its may there should be alot more 😀
I will call tony and and see what he can do for me.
Last year in the fall I called and they still had trachys.
I put in a new garden bed for the palm and some bamboo.
On south wall.
The ones they had were a pretty good size. I am trying to get Valleyview in Toronto to carry some more cold hardys. All they have are washy's (of which I plan on picking up tomorrow).
Needles are pretty expensive, probably cause they are the most hardy.
Tony is a great source. He has had needles and other tropicals that he has been testing for a couple years now. He said the needles in his yard were not protected, burried in snow and ice. He said they had no damage at all so thats pretty cool. I, myslef am into the trunking palms.
I will see If I could get some soon!
I live in Trenton and it does not look very much farther north than Niagra falls but we have one the the Harshest winters in
southern ontario around.
Even near the lake might warm us a little but we have much stronger winds and more snow and rain also
alot of ice.
I surprised his needles had not damage but here they would be 70% damaged.
My area is out of the banana belt range and also the hardy musa basjoo map.
Today I spent over $150.00 worth of plants that are not exotic and common around here.
In zone 5b Its hard.
