And here's a July 2026 update. I trimmed off the dead fronds. Looks better. We will see how much growth it gets over the Summer. :)

Here's an update for the end of May. Some palm frond burn. There was no protection or wrapping over the winter. We also didn't get any real snow so there was no insulation from the cold winter winds.

December 2025 update.

It hasn't been really cold yet. Maybe around -5 c

These two pictures were taken on December 20th 2025.

And this picture was on Christmas day December 25th 2025.

I'll keep updating this post in the future and see how the needle palm in kelowna does after winter. :)

End of August 2025 Needle Palm In Kelowna BC Canada update.

Well I just planted my needle palm that I grew from seed.

It was time to plant it and see if it survives the Kelowna BC winters!

Rhapidophyllum hystrix. The needle palm, is a palm native to coastal margins
of the subtropical eastern Gulf and south Atlantic states of the United States.

The most cold hardy palm that is rumored to survive temps around -26c (-15F)

We'll see how it goes. Here's some pictures of my needle palm in Kelowna BC Canada. :)
