These are the most northerly native trunking palms in North America (only Sabal minor is found growing further north, and only marginally). They are located at the Moapa Warm Springs in Nevada and appear to be quite happy despite the constantly wet conditions!
It was 98f the day I was there so we didn't stick around for long!

Sabal palmetto watch out, I think I might have a new favorite hardy palm!

John, I was able to get a very few seeds... I forgot all my tree climbing gear! I sent them via mail and will know shortly whether I have a few to offer!

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Thanks, Paul, for those great pics.
What an oasis!
Perfect temps and moisture...no wonder they look so healthy.

Please show us seed progress as you germinate them.

I can't remember exactly when I started these from seed, but the first batch of seeds you sent were crushed in the mail, and this the second batch of seeds you sent,I think these germinated about June of last year,so there about 16 months old,I have a few in 1 gallon containers about half this size, these were planted in the ground early summer,in good sunlight location.
I think they would have grown larger if we'd had more sunshine and warmer weather,we had record rainfall 50" so far this year and cooler weather.
Barb, these grow a little slower than the robustas I have, but seem to put on more leaves than the robustas,I hope they prove to be more hardier also.

I was worried I forgot to tape the plant to the box,and was afraid it would slide back and fourth in the box!!LOL
And I didn't remember until I got back home from the post office.
Glad the fan wasn't bent to bad!!!
