I have some Mazari Palm (Nannorrhops ritchiana) seeds that have sprouted using the baggy method and have heard they need to be planted in deep pots. I did notice that they have longer roots than other palm seedlings. Any suggestions on how deep of pot i should use?
Regards,
Jay
I have 6 that I planted at the same time thinking I would loose a few. they all made it. I have had them in one gallon pots for 2 years now.
That's awesome. Mine actually died on me. 🙁 I will have to try again this spring.
Regards,
Jay

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

I tried seeds at first but they got moldy and died I wasnt taking care of them right. My seedling taught me a lot about growing them the right way. I ended up buying mine from ty ty ga. I know everyone says not to use them but I drove there for my self and they were selling like them 10 dollars each and at that time my lil guy had one leaf. But once I got em home 2 others sprouted so I got 3 for the price of 1. Basically what I do to this guy is keep him in 30% sand 30% clay dirt and the rest rich black dirt. I fertilize this guy with slow release palm fertilizer every 3 months. I keep them in the summer in the sun in very deep over sized black pots ( so the heat up extremly ). I water them with a deep soak once a week. But during the day they cook with the pot getting in the 100 degree mark. And in the winter they sit on my radiator in partial sun toasting and they love it. I ordered some seeds and retried growing them one more time. I put the seeds in a black pot with the same soil mix about an inch below the surface and soaked em once a week deep and in the sun. About a month later these bad boys cooked open and sprouted. More heat less mold 😈

Good info 🙂 I will try to give them more heat if I ever get some seed. 😀

Hopefully I pelled that correct. Anyway I've propagated dozens of them from seeds over the years and they can be some what picky. They dislike to much dampness. They are subject to botrytis in the greenhouse when cooler conditions come in the Fall. I have managed to overwinter some seedlings outdoors last winter, but they don't look the greatest. The first one I lost was a 2 gallon specimen in the Winter of 1990. I imported that one from California. They are hardier in a much drier climate. They are not a good choice for our south west coast.
