Well.... the bug has hit bad. I have gone over the edge on the palms so far... I hope the end is in sight. Heres the last couple weeks buys.
A nice windmill.... about 3 or 4 feet tall
A nice bottle palm..only about 3ft...but adorible.
A couple small queens 4 ft
A sprouting coconut
Todays "final" buy of the year was a 4 trunk 8 foot christmas palm.....couldnt resist. it was beautiful.
In addition, lots of differant bananas etc....I shall post some pics later.
so am I the only over achiever?

cedardave,

So, if you could just leave your full address and directions to your house, also, please leave all the palms out in a dark open area and turn off any alarms or motion detector lights that would be great..thanks!!!

Just kidding, Where did you score all those? Especially the Christmas palm and the coconut, those are 2 that still allude me.

The coconut came from www.suncatchersofhilo.com its just a coconut with a sprout...2foot sprout but very healthy. The christmas palm was a stumbled upon thing. The greenhouse I buy most of my plants from has often ordered the plants I want for me. The guy said these were unavailable last time I talked to him. I was wandering around there this morining and couldnt believe my eyes... There were about 6 of them. Mine is a 4 trunker about 8 feet tall, but the big ones were likely 12-16 feet tall, also 4 trunkers. I only had my van with me so the smaller was all I could do. My trailer is at the cottage or I may have got the bigger one. I may go back and get another.....

ah.... yes my wallet is a little warm. I must say for the size of the christmas palm I only paid 170 canadian(since Im in canada). I thought that was pretty good. The windmill and bottles were reasonable as well, although not as reasonable as they would have been in the US. It seems if you dont grab these when you see them, there gone by the time you decide and go back. I may have to stop just going for a "stroll" thru the greenhouses. I really only went there today for a look around and maybe a nice hibiscus tree if I found one I liked. I left without the hibiscus... my wife says Im not allowed to go back by myself anymore lol.I will post some pics tonight...

sounds like you did good. Nothing points springtime in the right direction like a stroll through the old greenhouse.

Nice pics cedardave.
Gosh those seedling palms look good, as do the bananas.
Love the layout, and the palms are so big. 8)
Your majesty looks so good when other people are having trouble with theirs.

Man a 7 foot palm...I can only dream.
Thanks for those pics.

lucky1,

Was the majesty thing a dig at me? 😆 😆

My poor majesty, mine looked as good as his (when I brought it home)
I have jobes spikes in and Epsom salt ready!!!
The fight begins!!!

Cedardave,

I agree with everyone else, VERY NICE collection. I am looking for some Christmas palms myself. The Home Depot has them here but they are 10-15 feet in total height and $160.00. Too big for me. I need to find some that are that size.

AP, nope not a dig. I think everyone's puzzled why your Majesty fizzled after you got it.
Must be the store's fault. I hope it pulls through and puts on good size for you.

lucky1,
I know, I was just playin 😀 ❗

The Maj is getting lots of attention now, including palm spikes and Epsom showers. Its out of the wind and has lots of filtered light. So, well see, if it dies then I am out $10.00.

Talk to you later

CedarDave great collection of plants. Do you get any comments about your yard? What type of bananas are you growing?

Usually once everything starts to get aclimated to there new garden home peolple will start to slow down or stop as they drive by. As for bananas, I am growing... Hua Moa,Goldfinger, Enano Gigante,Manzano,Musa Merelli, Musa Basjoo,Bordeleon,Ice Cream, Dwarf Cavendish, and Abbassynian. So far a lot of them have yet to do much, but some have started. I look forward to some warmth so things will take off...... plus 2 with risk of frost here tonight!
